The European Wine Bloggers Conference is just around the corner and Vienna is getting ready to rock!

Less than a month away, held October 22-24 at the Schoenbrunn Palace Orangery with optional trips to Burgenland and down the Danube the 25-26th, it’s no wonder the conference sold out many months ago.

Fear not, for those of us unable to attend the conference this year there will be a live video stream, live blog and potentially an online app that allows participants to upload tasting notes, live… if you can’t bring everyone to the party, you might as well bring the party to everyone!

Regional Wine Tours all day long 3 Regions: Burgenland, Weinviertel & Danube

As you can see, there’s a lot of wonderful things going on with some wonderful speakers, Austrian wine regional tours, great information for improving your blog and great wines, of course!

Sunday will be an extra special treat – three tours have been planned to various regions, allowing attendees to visit some of the country’s great wineries and see the wine regions first hand:

Austrian Wines Along the Danube River
Explore the Danube with a boat trip to the Wachau region: wines from all over the Wachau will be tasted in the world’s top cooperative – the Domäne Wachau. Then, continue along the Danube to find out more about one of Austria’s most up and coming regions, the Wagram. At the last stop, you get to taste wines from the regions of Thermenregion and Carnuntum in the beautiful monastery of Stift Klosterneuburg.

Weinviertel – Home of the Grüner
All about Grüner! Discover Austria’s flagship grape, Grüner Veltliner, and its home – the Weinviertel! Taste Grüner in its purest character, as Weinviertel DAC wines. Also, discover the food friendliness of Grüner Veltliner in a special wine and food tasting. Then, visit the historic cellars of Retz – 20 kilometers of paths that wind underneath the town. And finally, take part in a special Grüner Veltliner harvest: grapes that will become Austria’s first EWBC wine!!!

Come and See the Burgenland
Come to the Burgenland and experience wine, tradition and culture during a visit to Schloss Esterházy (as seen in picture) the beautiful palace dominating the town of Eisenstadt. Then explore the region around the Neusiedlersee (Lake Neusiedl), visit the famous Wine Academy in Rust, and taste
wines from all regions of Burgenland.

Monday and Tuesday will allow attendees an even further look into the Burgenland and Danube winemaking areas of the country and to dive headfirst into the culture of each region. Definitely not to be missed! For more information these trips, see here.

For those who are lucky enough to attend…. the rest of us are quite jealous!

Special thanks to Ryan and Gabriella Opaz of Catavino and Robert McIntosh of the, the organizers of this spectacular event.
