Tomorrow marks the commencement of the biennial VieVinum festival – a large-scale trade show held in Vienna, Austria featuring more Austrian producers than any other trade show in the world.

All weekend long, the AWMB has set up a series of events so that attendees can better experience Austrian wine and Austrian culture – we’re talking wine tastings in some of the most beautiful buildings in Europe!

For the visiting trade, the events kick off tomorrow night with a welcome celebration full of Austrian wine aboard the Badenschiff at restaurant Holy Moly! docked at the Danube Canal. Visitors from around the world will have a chance to meet and enjoy a dinner selection alongside their Grüner Veltliner and Zweigelt (among others.)

The next day attendees are invited to taste Austria’s Top 200 Red Wines from the 2009 vintage at an all-day walk-around tasting in the Redoutensaal (entrance Josefsplatz) at the Hofburg Vienna, from 9.30 am to 4.00 pm. That night, attendees are invited to experience a taste of Austrian culture at the Heurigen Fuhrgassl-Huber, a typical Viennese Wine tavern.

Saturday morning, June 2, the fair begins! Attendees are invited back to the Hofburg Vienna for a 3-day tasting of all of Austria’s top quality wines from producers throughout the winemaking regions of Austria. The day kicks off with a seminar on the “7 Elements of Uniqueness” from 10-11am and the next day a seminar on the Great Noble Sweet Wines of the World demonstrates the flexibility of Austria grape varieties.

Saturday night will feature the Big Austrian Wine Party at the Kursalon Vienna where attendees are invited to wear their finest smart casual outfit and nibble on a selection of Amuse Bouche and a buffet dinner while drinking some of Austria’s top wines. Stay tuned to our Facebook and Twitter pages for real-time updates on what we’re tasting, eating, and experiencing…and if you’re an attendee don’t forget to say, “hi!”
