This year has been a great year thus far. We launched our first ever Retail Weeks celebration across the country in over 100 retail shops, we were able to showcase the versatility of Grüner Veltliner as it ages across four decades, we participated in our first-ever Guild Somm series of events and, of course, everything in between just added to the fun.
For that we would like to thank you in honor of this US, national holiday during which we plan to celebrate with great food, drink, family, and friends across the globe.
Of course, for those of you still out shopping for fixin’s and wine for the big day, it’s also the perfect time to remind you that Austrian wine hasn’t been called the ultimate pairing wine just for fun.
Remember, Austria makes fantastic winter whites whether it be a Gruner Veltliner from a riper vintage or travel south to Burgenland to snag a great bottle of Pinot Gris or Pinot Blanc which are sure to knock the socks off your guests. If you’re in the mood for something different, a Zierfandler or a Neuburger are also perfect company for your turkey. The high acid of a Gruner can also be perfect company for that traditionally Green Bean Casserole packed with salt and fats.
For reds, Thanksgiving is usually all about spice, and lucky for you, so are Blaufrankisch and Zweigelt! These also both boast cheery, cranberry, and other berry fruit notes that match great with a few of those sides. St. Laurent is another option which combines the best of both worlds.
Of course, dessert is a necessary course on this holiday so reach for some of our liquid gold! Why not a Ruster Ausbruch or perhaps a traditional TBA? Personally, we might even skip the pie for a glass of one of these babies instead.
Whatever you do, though, don’t forget to start it all off with a little something bubbly…. Austrian Sekt! It’s sure to bring a smile to the face of everyone – perhaps that’s the bubbles doing the work?? – and match with a variety of appetizer options.
Regardless what you choose or what’s on your table – please share with us, by the way – we wish you a happy and a safe holiday! And for our Jewish fans, we wish you a doubly happy holiday this year!
